more roomies!

this just in: we have a full house.

no longer is it just me, kelley and ains! two girls moved in this morning and said that their friends will be moving in later tonight. we'll see how this goes! 8 girls...2 showers.

which reminds me! look what i found yesterday.
this adorable shower curtain from urban outfitters. too bad there's one 2 blocks from my apartment i might have to see if they have one in stock! my parisian besty and i would definitely use this to our fullest potential with our picture obsessions.

spice & fuerza bruta

last night i met up with tyler and matt p at a restaurant near union square called spice. it was a tasty thai eatery that, like every other place in nyc, has an incredible atmosphere and great architecture and decor.
their chicken pad thai was incredible! and mixed with fun dinner conversation about things back in cs, it definitely made for a perfect evening.

from there we walked around union square a little bit (first time for me!) until we spotted the daryl roth theatre where fuerza bruta performs. i had never heard of fuerza bruta but matt told us it was a little bit like circ de sole so we decided to go see if they had tickets!

unfortunately, they were $75 and after a day full of shopping i was a little less than eager to fork that kind of money over, but being "mr. connections" himself, matt got us discounted tickets.

i cant really begin to explain what this thing is like. you stand up the whole time, and you move around the sets that they use. its super strange, but you cant stop looking at everything because its just so cool! heres a little video i took from last night. the first 30 or so second are boring, but the end gives you a better picture of what the show was like!
go here for more pictures and videos of f.b.!

big brown bag

today i slept in and spent the afternoon doing a little shopping. bloomingdales was having a huge sale and i scored a free people skirt and longchamp bag! i love shopping by myself.

one thing ive learned about new york (that will definitely have to require some self control) is that there are sample sales all the time! today, it was alice + olivia's flagship store on 40th. i got a pair of navy and white pinstriped pants that were never sold in stores and only used in photo shoots. one of a kind, baby.

alice + olivia is right across the street from bryant park (ex-home of fashion week, from now on it'll be at the lincoln center) so i grabbed a chair and read for a little while. bryant park is officially my new favorite park in nyc. its absolutely beautiful and includes a carousel.
these days just keep getting better.

ice

here's another thing nyc is missing out on...ICE! they barely put any in your cups at restaurants and i dont have any in my apartment either.

i miss speedy stop and sonic :(

music & lyrics

this movie has potential to be one of the most under-rated movies! its so precious and it got such poor reviews. my room mates are out for the evening so i raided their dvd collection and picked out this little gem. its easy to forget about but so refreshing!

drew's best film in my book.

first day on the job

woah. what a day! definitely a little overwhelming at first, but i know im gonna love this! i spent the day looking for venues for various partys were throwing this summer and ended it with touring the 'museum of the american gangster' with my boss and one of her clients for a potential venue. typical.

i love the people that i'll be working with! there are a bunch of other interns (most of them i havent met) so hopefully we'll get to know each other and enjoy our summer here!

after work i went with my boss and a bunch of other people from work to a bar called d.b.a for the tastiest grapefruit margaritas i've ever had!
the patio on the back is covered like a greenhouse. how cool that there are little places like this that make you forget you're in such a huge city.

roomy night!

regardless of how close you are or how long you've known eachother, room mates always seem to know when to save the day! i was throwing a mild pity party for myself last night (a combo of being tired and scared i was going to be all alone all summer) my two sweet roomys walked in and we decided to go out!
we went to two different bars near nyu and it felt just like home! :) just a ton of college kids. we ended the night with a large new york style pizza and some late night chit chat -- some things never change!
