the day of the bushmills event at the jane hotel, kyra and i were sent on a bunch of last minute errands! this doesnt sound too difficult, but whenever we're sent out, things turn in to the most inefficient tasks ever (i.e. frame incident)
for example: last week i was supposed to find 20 plain canvas bags to use for gift bags for the press. i found the perfect ones at american apparel and considering that store is on every corner here i figured i'd have to go to 2-3 store to get all 20 in about an hour. five hours later i came back to the office still needing 3. in the end i visited 10 out of 11 new york/brooklyn american apparels to get my 20 canvas bags. kyra and i have vowed to not shop at AA for the rest of the summer. except for this, and maybe this and this.
we hired death + co to bartend. they use really awesome, particular ingredients in each of their drinks. for example, kyra and katie found themselves in an indian market over the weekend looking for a specific brand of bitters! one of the recipes called for pineapple juice. the grocery store only sold Dole brand, and they apparently cant use that so we went to buy 20 pineapples!
please imagine two girls with three huge boxes of heavy pineapples trying to flag down a taxi. apparently the jane was not where most of the taxi drivers felt like going because 3 of them turned us down - pineapples and all! finally kira ran up the street for a cab and i'm on the corner with pineapples and tears running down my face i was laughing so hard.
