book: the great gatsby

i just finished reading the great gatsby earlier this week. i read it once in high school, but didnt remember it at all (i probably used spark notes), so decided to read this american classic once again.
im not about to review Fitzgerald's most famous piece, but i will give you a few of my favorite quotes that i underlined throughout.

-"it was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life."
-"every one suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: i am one of the few honest people that i have ever known."
-"now it was again a green light on a dock. his count of enchanted objects had diminished by one."
-"it is invariably saddening to look through new eyes at things upon which you have expended your own powers of adjustment."
-"but what had amused me then turned septic on the air now."

definitely a must-read!
